After receiving a piercing at Adrenaline, it is essential that an aftercare routine is followed to ensure that successful healing occurs. We recommend applying the Simple Care piercing spray to your new piercing once or twice a day. Begin by washing your hands before handling your piercing and gently remove any crusted matter from the piercing using a cotton swab saturated in warm water. At this point, spray the Simple Care on your piercing and allow to dry. Be sure to NOT wipe away the residual spray. You should not move or rotate the piercing jewelry while cleaning.
In addition to the Simple Care piercing spray, we also recommend a sea salt soak once a day in order to aid the drainage and removal of exudates from the piercing. Dissolve three large rocks, or 1/8 teaspoon, of sea salt in a full 8 oz. glass of warm water. Form a seal with the edge of the glass against your skin and soak the piercing for five minutes. When soaking is complete, be sure to rinse the piercing with warm water and pat dry with a clean paper towel. During the healing time, especially in the first 4-6 weeks, avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, baths, lakes, etc. and try your best to never touch the piercing with dirty hands.
If you receive an oral piercing at Adrenaline, we recommend rinsing with an antimicrobial, all natural product such as Body Art Pro Oral Rinse. Every day after eating, drinking, or smoking, rinse your mouth using half a capful of the Body Art Pro Oral rinse. This rinse is safe to use on all oral piercings and is able to be used as many times as necessary. If you are healing a tongue piercing, be sure to gently brush your tongue around the piercing, top and bottom, twice daily. Try to avoid playing with your piercing during the healing process. Once the swelling from your piercing has gone down (usually 2-4 weeks for tongues and 4-6 weeks for lips), be sure to downsize your jewellery to avoid chipping teeth or gum damage.
After receiving an oral piercing it is a good idea to avoid spicy or acidic foods and try to minimize alcohol, caffeine and smoking as they are causes of irritation to a healing piercing. Also avoid contact with other bodily fluids, such as wet kissing or oral sex, for at least 4-6 weeks after the piercing. To relieve swelling during healing time, be sure to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and let ice cubes melt in your mouth (avoid sucking or chewing).
Happy healing!
