FAQ

Tattoos

Yes tattoos are perfectly safe assuming that you are seeing a reputable artist in a shop that is following all health regulations, and assuming you are following the recommended aftercare given to you during the tattoo.

At Adrenaline we charge $150 per hour of tattoo time with a minimum of $80.  If you are not sure as to how long a certain tattoo will take, you can bring in imagery for an artist to quote for you.

Pain is really relative as everyone has a different tolerance to pain.  People would not be returning for tattoo after tattoo if it was that bad. The benefits of the beautiful tattoo that you get will far outweigh the procedure!

Any sort of numbing creams are really not recommended as they change the integrity of your skin.  Numbing creams usually only last about a half hour before wearing off which really isn’t long enough to get that much work done anyways!

In general tattoos take around two  four weeks to heal assuming that you are following the artist recommended aftercare!

Fresh tattoos cannot be soaked in any body of water or be exposed to sun!  This means no swimming or tanning so the best time of year to get tattooed is cloudy or cold months.  Even after a tattoo is fully healed, you should always apply sun block to the tattoo whenever exposing it to the sun so the tattoo stays looking crisp longer!

At Adrenaline, you must be 18 years of age with valid government issued ID to get tattooed. In some cases at 17 with parental consent and valid ID on both parts certain tattoos will be considered.

Tattooing falls into the service industry so tips are always appreciated!

It really depends on the type of scarring that you have. If you are prone to Keloid or hypertrophic scars and are trying to cover up one of these scars, the tattoo will most likely make the scar much worse. It is very common to tattoo over stretch marks and skin discolorations as well as older non-keloid scars. You can feel free to come in any time to show an artist the scar you are wanting to cover to see what the possibilities are!

Piercing

Pain is really relative as everyone has a different tolerance to pain. People would not be returning for piercing after piercing if it was that bad. The benefits of the beautiful piercing that you get will far outweigh the procedure!

It really depends on the body part that are getting pierced. Refer to our piercing gallery write-ups for information on the piercing you are looking to get.

Surgical steel, titanium and gold are the best options to start with as they are the materials found to have the least reactions in healing piercings.

Yes. Your nipple is like a sponge the piercing will not block breast milk from exiting. Be sure to remove the jewellery before attempting to breastfeed!

Yes piercings are perfectly safe assuming that you are seeing a reputable Piercer in a shop that is following all health regulations, and assuming you are following the recommended aftercare given to you during the piercing.

Piercing cost depends on many variables such as placement, style of jewel and material of jewellery. You can come in anytime to have one of our sales staff run you through all the options for the piercing that you are wanting.

Just one size at a time to prevent damage!

In general 6- 8 weeks.

When stretching, the skin in the earlobes micro tears to accommodate the larger size. Titanium, surgical steel and pyrex are the materials found to have the least reactions in healing tissue. Organic options should never be stretched with as they are porous and can stick to the healing tissue.

Generally allergies are caused by nickel content in metals. Try something that contains no nickel like titanium to start!

At Adrenaline we have a variety of piercing retainers which are clear pieces of jewellery that help camouflage your piercing. Retainers are only to be worn in fully healed piercings.

Even if you find a softer material to wear in your navel piercing during pregnancy the fact still remains that there is an object under the tissue causing pressure on already stretched skin. To prevent scarring or migration, we recommend removing the piercing.

Absolutely not! Initial materials used for piercings are not porous and will not stick to your tissue. Rotating the jewellery will only draw in excess bacteria and inhibit the development of a proper fistula (the scar tissue tube that forms around a healed piercing).

Come in to let the piercers take a look. Remember that a small amount or redness and crusting is normal with any piercing.

Rejection or migration can happen with any piercing. Basically what happens is your body recognises the piercing as a foreign object and considers that object a threat to your health. At this point, your body actually pushes the piercing to the surface of the skin. This is most commonly found in piercings that are preformed with jewellery that is not suitable for the placement of the piercing, but in some cases can happen for no known reason at all!
